Potentially the most diverging factor from farming is the presumed lack of accessibility to the average person. It’s cost efficiency comes into question heavily when one contemplates getting into farming. Often disregarded as a treacherous and risky endeavor, AgroNat aims to restructure the concept of farming with its Community Farming Project.

This innovative model caters to the development of Agriculture as a viable economic activity in the Maldives (as per the Government’s Strategic Action Plan). It aims to Interlink economic and social development of the population. Under this project AgroNat will acquire and develop land to optimize the space for farming, subsequently partnering with resident farmers to implement medium scale farming practices. Furthermore, this project will utilize environmentally sustainable methods, thereby eliminating almost all deterrents from farming locally as a whole.

The community farming model promises to yield safer produce and instilling the required knowledge in farmers further enhancing the sustainability component. Usage of technology facilitates effectiveness and efficiency in production and progress monitoring. The modernized approach is vital in attracting youth and female participation, allowing for better employment prospects for them as well. The project also does well to meet UN’s SDG targets for 2030.

The key idea pertains to the farmer focusing purely on farming and AgroNat taking care of the rest. This model when implemented would be a significant boost for farmers throughout the nation and can be an exceptional factor of growth for the local agricultural sector.
