The market was built in Kaashidhoo island with the aim of facilitating the purchase and sale of Dhivehi products produced by women, youth, and other people. This is a pledge listed in the president’s roadmap (week-14) in accordance with the promise of the company corporate social responsibility program and with its financial assistance.
The market officially opened on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. The market was officially inaugurated by the Vice-President of Kaashidhoo Council, Ms. Sahla Zahir. During the inauguration ceremony, the recipients of the market outlet cells were handed over with the certificates.
This is the first ever such market in the country that has been done by AgroNAT. We plan to have similar markets in other selected islands as per the schedule.
Under a memorandum of understanding signed between AgroNAT and Kaashidhoo Council, whereas the market will be operated by the island council. In addition to appointing the tenants of the cells, the council will also run and maintain the market. The market has a total of 5 outlet cells and is expandable for having more such cells.
